Stay

Guest Services
The Ronald McDonald House of Western Michigan serves families of children and youth who are receiving inpatient or outpatient medical treatment in the Grand Rapids community. Guest families are provided with affordable housing, meals, transportation, and a variety of amenities and services.
Patient Eligibility Criteria
The patient must be 21 years or younger at the time of guest intake. In addition, the patient must be receiving inpatient or outpatient care, or attending an outpatient clinic appointment at a medical facility in Grand Rapids. Please note, the Ronald McDonald House of Western Michigan does not provide housing for families of patients receiving outpatient psychiatric treatment.
Family Eligibility Criteria
Guest families must reside at least 30 miles away from the medical facility where the patient is receiving treatment. Guests must be at least 18 years of age or be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. Rooms are available to immediate family members (Mom, Dad, siblings, grandparents and legal guardians) of children under 21 years of age receiving inpatient or outpatient care with a limit of one room per family.
Payment for Services
In some cases, the Ronald McDonald House may bill an insurance provider, Medicaid, or Children’s Special Health Care for lodging expenses with prior authorization. Guests should check with their insurance provider regarding their eligibility. All guests with or without insurance are asked to make a contribution of $25 per night towards their stay. However, no one is ever turned away from the Ronald McDonald House due to inability to make a contribution towards their stay.
