Kyle at Spectrum Health Continuing Care

When Kyle was 16 years old, he was involved in a two-car collision that resulted in the death of three other people. Kyle, in serious medical condition, was rushed to Munson Medical Center in Traverse City, Michigan. Because of the severity of his condition - a coma resulting from a major closed-head injury - he was sent to the Spectrum Health Continuing Care Center in Grand Rapids for several months.

Kyle's family stayed at the Ronald McDonald House while he was receiving medical care from Spectrum Health. Kyle's mother, Elaine, always thought the Ronald McDonald House was merely a place to sleep before she experienced the House firsthand. Now she tells everyone the relief she felt from having a place to stay that not only gave her a place to sleep, but provided her with meals, transportation, passes for entertainment and a supportive staff of people that were willing to lend an ear any time, day or night.
