Jasmine at Forest View Psychiatric Hospital
Sixteen-year-old Jasmine was diagnosed with anorexia nervosa. Anorexia is a serious, and often life-threatening, eating disorder. Treatment involves changing the person's eating habits, while managing the underlying feelings that caused the eating problem. After a three-week inpatient stay, Jasmine and her mom now come periodically for outpatient treatment at Forest View Psychiatric Hospital; they stay at the Ronald McDonald House of Western Michigan. Not only is the House affordable, but the large kitchen encourages proper dieting, as eating out can be difficult to regulate.
