Christopher at the Conductive Learning Center
Christopher was born with cerebral palsy, a condition that impairs an individual's motor abilities. At seven years old, he is beginning to learn how to walk and take care of himself due to an intensive education program called the Conductive Education Program. Although well established in other parts of the world, Grand Rapids is its first American site. A typical conductive education session last five weeks, so Christopher's mom had to quit her paying job to be able to help Christopher. The Ronald McDonald House of West Michigan makes it possible for the family to stay together without hotel, transportation and meal costs.
